Advance Micro Device (AMD) Inc. a giant chipmaker is likely to introduce fresh chip with new architecture. The highly speculated graphics card Radeon RX 490 will not be the one which AMD is currently making.

The graphics card technology giant is preparing for something better instead. As per the new report, the giant chipmaker is likely to introduce the RX 500 GPU series that will be on Vega 10 architecture with up to 16GB of HBM2 memory.

According to WCCFTech, it is reported that the teaser was posted by AMD's official Radeon RX twitter page which indicates that AMD will introduce the RX 500 GPU series that will be on Vega 10 architecture. Also, the report presents that AMD will bring forward a new GPU architecture for consumers in 2017.

This new architecture would be known as Vega and will be part of the latest Radeon RX series family which will be using HBM2 memory to power high-performance, enthusiast-grade graphics cards.

It can be expected that the company might have multiple card releases for consumers and GPU enthusiasts that will boast of the GDDR5, GDRR5X and HBM2 flavors. Already, two variants of Vega GPU are seen from AMD. First one is the Instinct MI25 Accelerator which has a peak compute performance of 12.5 TFLOPs in single precision mode and it is rated at 25 TFLOPs at mixed precision mode.

AMD with AI acceleration features will be having a dual precision performance of 6.25 TFLOPs when featured with a 2:1 ratio of single- to double-precision

The report assumes that new RX 500 card will be 16GB capacity for the enthusiast market and 8GB for the general consumer and the former one will have a 2048-bit memory bus (2 HBM2 stacks) at 1000 MHz or a 4096-bit memory bus (4 HBM2 stacks) at 500 MHz.

As for the real-world performance of the RX 500 series, the same report pointed to recent benchmark testing from AMD that showcased the Vega 10 GPU outmuscling its nearest competition. And with the HBM2 memory, the card is also said to be optimized with AI or artificial intelligence acceleration

AMD is expected to give more details on the Vega GPU at CES 2017 and the new RYZEN CPUs which are also coming out in Q1 2017.
