Asus Zenfone AR has been leaked a couple of times before and made an appearance on Qualcomm's website also. The company has officially announced the world's first smartphone to feature 8GB RAM supporting Google Tango.

Zenfone AR is the first Google Tango phone to feature high-end specs including Snapdragon 821 and 8GB of RAM which is first for a smartphone. According to AndroidAuthority, the smartphone is much sleeker and less bulky compared to Lenovo's Phab 2 Pro which is the first smartphone to feature support for Google's augmented reality platform called Google Tango and Google's virtual reality platform known as Google Daydream.

The smartphone is quite a looker and a metal band moves around the periphery of the device while the back is covered with leather which feels extremely grippy and comfortable in hand. The front is occupied by a large 5.7 inch AMOLED screen with QHD resolution. The 23MP camera is coupled with depth-sensing and motion tracking sensors at the back for the Tango experience. The home button now also houses the fingerprint sensor.

Google Tango and Daydream VR

Google Tango is a technology platform which allows developers to create unique experiences while incorporating things such as augmented reality. There are several apps which are exclusively built for Tango and provide unique experience to the Tango users by creating 3D models.

Daydream VR is virtual reality platform developed by Google which is only available in Android Nougat devices. Daydream is essentially a set of three components - a handset, a controller and a software which create a virtual world.

Asus Zenfone AR runs on Android Nougat and includes a vapour cooling system to prevent the phone from overheating. A 3300 mah battery is powering the device which seems a little less as the smartphone has to run AR and VR apps which consume a lot of power. The price and availability of this phone is still undisclosed by the company.
