HTC has unveiled is flagship smartphone for the first half of 2017 and it has created buzz in the industry. The HTC U Ultra has some upped the ante and it is giving serious competition to the iPhone 7 Plus. HTC's smartphone has all the ingredients that make it a better smartphone in all aspects compared to the Apple's flagship smartphone.

The Gorgeous Screen

HTC's U Ultra has a 5.7-inch Super LCD 5 display which improves brightness and contrast levels compared to the normal LCD displays. The screen has QHD resolution (1440x2560) compared to the iPhone 7's 1080P (1080x1920) resolution display. HTC is the winner here as U Ultra's PPI is 513 compared to iPhone's 401 PPI which makes text on the HTC's screen looks much sharper.

Processor and RAM

iPhone 7 Plus uses a quad-core Apple A10 Fusion chip at 2.34GHz which is one of the best processor available on the market. But HTC's U Ultra is a no slouch either. It uses a Snapdragon 821 which is a quad-core SoC with two different cluster cores. The higher power cores run at 2.15 GHz while lower power cores at 1.6 GHz. Additionally, HTC's device packs 4GB of RAM while iPhone 7 has 3GB RAM as reported by Engadget.

Camera

Apple and HTC have a fierce competition on this one. Both devices feature a 12MP rear camera but there is a dual-lens system on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus vs. single lens on the HTC U Ultra and it seems Apple takes the lead here. But HTC's camera sensor is much bigger which captures more light. DxOMark, which rates different lenses has given U Ultra a score of 88 but have not provided any rating for the iPhone 7 Plus's camera. Both the cameras have OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus), 4K Video recording and HDR.

The front camera is completely different on both devices. HTC has put 16MP camera on the while Apple only has a 7MP front camera.

Battery

U Ultra and iPhone 7 Plus feature a similar capacity battery however, HTC's is bigger - 3000MAh vs. 2900MAh on the 7Plus.

Storage

HTC U Ultra has two variants - one with 64GB internal storage and a 'Special' version with 128GB storage. Additionally, the smartphone has a microSD card slot for further expansion upto 256GB. Apple iPhone 7 Plus comes with 32, 128 and 256GB storage options and memory card slot is absent.

Both of the devices are powerful and feature rich. They are differentiated on the software part. HTC U Ultra comes with Android 7. Nougat whereas iPhone 7 Plus ships with iOS 10 onboard. HTC U Ultra comes with AI called HTC Sense Companion which learns from the user and provides suggestions for a better user experience.
