HTC's mid-range smartphone One A9 was launched in 2015 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow onboard. The phone has now received an upgrade to its OS. The company has finally upgraded the unlocked version of the smartphone to Android 7.0 Nougat.

In 2015, HTC announced that all of its new phones will receive fast updates. The company also promised that the HTC One A9 would receive every version of Android within 15 days of Google releasing the update to its Nexus devices. This was a huge announcement that persuaded buyers and gave them a strong belief that their phones will be upgraded by the company. However, that did not happen as per the timeframe promised by HTC, as reported by XDA.

For the HTC One A9, it took a little longer than expected and the Android 7.0 Nougat update has finally been rolled out by the company. The thing to be noted is that only the unlocked variants of the device are eligible for an upgrade. The carrier locked versions are still running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and are waiting for an upgrade. Once the carrier approval is done, these devices will also be updated to the Google's newest Android OS, as reported by AndroidAuthority.

The confirmation news of the update for One A9 comes from HTC's Mo Versi, who confirmed via his Twitter feed. Versi works for HTC's US Division, so it is expected that the update is rolling out currently to the US version of HCT One A9. If the device updates are successful without any bugs or errors, the company will roll out this update worldwide very soon.

Apart from HTC One A9 owners, there are several users of the HCT 10 who did not receive Android 7.0 update in the initial rollout are expected to receive the update soon. HTC had to hold its Nougat update for the HTC 10 because of some bugs, HTC Germany announced last week.
