The much awaited successor to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4 has been launched in India today. The Snapdragon 625-powered smartphone will be available in three variants with prices starting at INR 9,999 ($146) for the base model.

The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will be available in three variants: INR 9,999 ($146) for 2GB RAM and 32GB storage, INR 10,000 ($161) for 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and the topmost model for INR 12,999 ($190) with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The internal storage can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 screen sports 2.5D curved glass and slimmer, tapered edges which promise to deliver great feel when held in hand. The curved glass on the phone will make the scrolling and touching a lot smoother. The phone is powered by 14nm FinFET Snapdragon 625. As per the details released on the Mi India website, Redmi Note 4 comes with 20% more power efficiency than its predecessor Redmi Note 3 which was powered by Snapdragon 650. The company has opted to use an inferior Snapdragon 625 SOC which is a downgrade in terms of performance.

The newly launched phone comes with 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD display and 4100mAh battery. Xiaomi could have improved on the battery part which has seen only a slight increase as compared to Redmi Note 3. But as per the company's claims, Redmi Note 4 will come with a 25% increase in battery life over the Redmi Note 3. Sadly the phone doesn't support fast charging, reports GSMArena.

The gamers will not be disappointed as they can expect a smooth gaming experience with up to 4GB RAM and the most advanced 14nm FinFET technology. Redmi Note 4 comes with a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. The primary camera comes with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) for 0.1s ultra-fast focusing. The dual-SIM (Micro+Nano) phone runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

All three variants of the Redmi Note 4 will exclusively be available in India on Mi.com and Flipkart and no pre-registrations are required for the sale. The company has not changed the sale model and will still use flash sale.
