Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets keep an eye on Mike Dunleavy

On January 7, 2017 Dunleavy was traded along with Mo Williams and a future first-round draft pick to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Kyle Korver. However, new rumours suggest that Warriors and Rockets still keep their hopes high as they continue keeping interest in this particular player.

After days of speculations as to what team American basketball star will be joining, the latter was finally confirmed to have been traded along with Mo Williams and a future first-round draft pick to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Kyle Korver. Despite given the official confirmation, there are rumours circulating, leaving the fans restless, that indicate that Warriors and Rockets still have their interest held on Mike Dunleavy.

As per a rumour mentioned in a report published by Hoops Rumors, while Dunleavy was officially traded off to Atlanta on Saturday, 7 January, 2017, he currently seems to have no plans to report to the team yet. In fact, the American basketball player prefers to work out a buyout that would allow him to pick a team that he actually prefers. The same report suggests that there no indications released from his side that may hint towards his preferred team, however, there are two sides that may possibly work out a deal.

The potential buyers include the Warriors and the Rockets. According to a report published by Realgm, the Warriors are rumoured to consider Dunleavy as a potential free agent target if his contract can be bought out. In addition to this, Golden State can't offer moer than the minimum salary to Dunleavy as the player's performance has been visibly declining in terms of production and his desire to join a contendor that would likely be enough to get some action done.

What remains to be seen is whether Dunleavy actually decided to report to the Hawks. There are a number of different directions that the team would venture out into if Dunleavy decided to play for them. However, fining and suspending the player may be a part of the venture. According to Calvin Watkins of ESPN, the Rockets also have interest in Dunleavy and even tried to trade for him within the past few weeks.
