Comedy actors Dax Shepard and Michael Peña will star in the new action comedy movie CHiPS. The two will play as eccentric highway patrol officers who appear to be a disastrous yet comical duo with a dangerous mission to fulfill.

Warner Bros. released the trailer of the movie last Jan. 11. CHiPs stands for California Highway Patrol and the officers' job is to make rounds on the Los Angeles Highway assisting motorists and eventually getting involved in investigating crimes.

Francis "Ponch" Poncherello (Peña) and Jon Baker  (Shepard) will be sent for an undercover assignment to investigate "crooked cops" according to the official movie trailer. Action movie fans should not turn their heads away as the flick is action-packed with police and motorcycle chase scenes.

Both Peña and Shepard are involved in a high-speed chase, massive explosion scenes, and of course, witty and flirty comedy scenarios. The two cops joined CHiPs and met during the assignment. "Baker is a beaten up pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job-inside the CHP," Warner Bros said. In order to solve the case of dirty cops, the two officers with obvious opposite personalities have to work together despite their crazy antics when they're together.

One of Peña's iconic roles is from Ant-Man, where critics say he stole the limelight from Paul Rudd for being the "comedic heavy hitter" says LA Times.  It appears that being funny comes naturally to Pena even when he is struggling with lines. "I improvised a lot in between [lines] because I couldn't remember the next part and I was trying to fish my way through it," Peña said. Fans hope that the same comedic approach will make the movie even better than Ant-Man.

Meanwhile, according to Warner, Shepard will direct the movie along with cinematographer Mitchell Amundsen ("Now You See Me"). Other cast members include Adam Brody, Rosa Salaza, Vincent D'Onofrio and Kristen Bell. CHiPs the movie will open in theaters in March 2017.
