2NE1 has released their new and final single, "Goodbye", to turn their singing career into an epilog. The "Goodbye" video was released on January 21 and has reached more than 1 million views in less than one day. This must be a heartbreaking moment for both fans and the members after almost eight years being in the top-tiers of Korean music industry.

"Goodbye" is a mellow and powerful track that features more than the singers' voices and guitar strumming. The lyrics of the tracks and the black-and-white video of 2NE1's journey to fame add more heartbreak as the members gazed into the video, remembering their time together as a group.

2NE1's "Goodbye" is written by CL with the help of Rook Monroe, who's also involved in Rihanna's "Anti", to arrange the melody. "Goodbye" is not only the group's final single; it's also their new music since "Gotta Be You" that was released in 2014. The group was disbanded on November following several years of hiatus. In early 2017, 2NE1's label, YG Entertainment, announced that the girl-band will release a new single that will also be the last called "Goodbye".

Minzy, who departed from the group last April, didn't make any involvement in the release of the single, although she appeared in a footage featured in "Goodbye". She then shared her feeling about the farewell in her Instagram, saying: "It's a shame that I had to find out that 2NE1 will be releasing their final album through a news article."

The CEO of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk, revealed that 2NE1's break-up as a consequence of Park Bom's struggle to regain her mental health after her amphetamine scandal back in 2014. Since Park's scandal, 2NE1 had halted most of their activities.

2NE1 gained their popularity in 2009 after releasing their debut single, "Fire". The group quickly became a phenomenon in world's music industry for their hit "I Am The Best". Throughout their career, 2NE1 had made their way into world fame with 19 songs that appear in World Digital Songs Chart, and one album on Billboard 200 chart.
