Pokemon Go players have been waiting keenly for a long-rumored update that was supposed to ultimately add the ability to go head to head with other Pokemon trainers. The gaming company is now finally enabling players to fight with other Pokemon extremes via Android devices and the iPhone; however it has nothing to do with Pokemon Go.

Following from the wild success of Pokémon Go, the new Pokémon game called Duel launched for the phone-on-phone battles, a feature missing from the augmented reality game released last year.

The Pokémon Company has created the mobile game as opposed to Niantic that was behind the creation of Pokémon Go.

In Pokémon Duel users can collect a host of Pokemon and then battle a team of up to six creatures against another team by introducing one of the original elements of the Nintendo game wanted by Go players, according to Telegraph.

The Pokémon firm has created single player and league modes, which will let users to battle other human opponents. It is free to download but includes in-app purchases for the power boosters and Pokémon upgrades.

As users win matches, they receive Time Booster boxes, which can contain new figures. These boxes take time to open, but players have the option to skip the wait by spending premium currency. Additionally game also lets users to compete in single-player matches in the game's story mode.

The strategy game is following a tough act after the location-based Pokémon Go generated $950 million in revenue for Niantic, Nintendo and the Pokémon Company, all three of which were behind the release, reports Forbes.

"This is a mobile strategy game where players organize digital Pokémon figures by making strategic moves and setting figures against each other in battle as they try to reach the goal in their opponent's territory," Pokémon Company mentioned in the official statement.

The game is currently available on iOS and Android. It is expected to be launched on Nintendo's Switch console in March.
