Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 is just around the corner and the smartphone manufacturers are gearing up for the launch of their smartphones. Sony has already sent out invitations for MWC 2017, so everyone is expecting a phone to be announced between 27 February to 2 March 2017 during the event.

The Sony Xperia X was announced on 22 February 2016 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. If we note, Sony loves a six month cycle of announcements, but has recently spread out them to go midrange/flagship, and IFA in September 2016 saw them launch the Xperia XZ to replace the Z5 and it efficiently killed the Z branding. In spite of this they have confusingly added a Z to the model to make XZ. The XZ became the flagship, with its 820 processor under the hood.

So, the PC Advisor, expect Sony to release a new Xperia X at MWC 2017, which may be called the X2.

Specs of the upcoming X2 include the Quad-core 2.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with 4-6GB of RAM. Device can have the Screen size of 5.2in or 5.5in with the resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 or 3,840 x 2,160 IPS.

It will feature the 23MP single-lens rear camera with 12MP dual-lens and for front camera the specs will be 13MP single-lens.

Xperia X2 is said to boast 32GB or 64GB storage with 3G, 4G, LTE (Dual-SIM) support. Device will be having USB Type-C, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11abgn/ac, Bluetooth v4.2 with aptX, NFC, fingerprint sensor

However, it's still unknown whether the phone will come with a 1440p or 4K display, but given the lack of real interest in 4K smartphones and the battery it consumes, it wouldn't approach as a surprise if we see a 1440p display instead.

Sony Xperia X2 is said to launch at MWC at Sony is going give an announcement there.
