BlackBerry, or we should say TCL, is going to make an appearance at a pre-MWC event that is basically going to be a follow-up from its showcasing at CES 2017 earlier in this month. The companies offered a sneak peek at the latest upcoming smartphone, which is reportedly called BlackBerry Mercury. However, at the event, Company has refused to share details of the device, leaving a trail of mysteries and secrets.

BlackBerry is formally going to launch the unnamed smartphone on February 25, just before the global smartphone showcasing event MWC in Barcelona and the TCL is expected to answer all the questions about the Smartphone's specs, features, price and availability at its upcoming event.

BlackBerry Mobile had tweeted a teaser on Twitter, showing the Mercury smartphone in a short video clip and mentioned the date 25.02.2017 along with #MWC2017.

BlackBerry's announcement puts it right at the beginning of Mobile World Congress, a huge tech show that overtakes Barcelona each year, CNET reported.

So far, details about BlackBerry are limited; the company said that the new phone will be focused on "security, productivity and reliability." TCL also gave hands-on experience of the device, at CES, confirming the design of the phone. BlackBerry Mercury will also be sporting the iconic QWERTY keyboard.

The handset is made out of metal and rubberized material and looks similar to the Passport. A fingerprint sensor is embedded into the space bar of the keyboard and a USB Type-C port will also be available for the charging, as per Indian Express.

While the internal specs remain a mystery however various reports surfacing on the internet suggest that the phone will feature a Snapdragon 625 CPU with 3GB RAM, 18MP rear-facing camera and an 8MP front shooter. The smartphone is of great meaning to BlackBerry as it is going to be the "last phone designed and engineered in-house by BlackBerry."

The Blackberry Mercury will run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with BlackBerry's usual suit of security and productivity applications, and device will be launched on 25 February 2017.
