Microsoft is about to launch a new Surface Pro 5 this year and the speculations are widespread on what the latest model will have to offer. We have compiled all the latest rumors regarding the said device.

Since the Surface Pro 4 was launched in October 2015, people had begun expecting the Surface Pro 5 to launch in October 2016. In its place, the company unveiled only the Surface Book i7 and the Surface Studio last year. If the company is really projecting a first quarter launch, then the Surface Pro 5 could make an appearance at this year's Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, TechTimes reported

According to Forbes, the touch screen has been an important part of the Surface range, and you can expect the Pro 5 to come with new display technology which will improve the accuracy of the touch screen both for fingers and for the Surface Pen.

Publication also notes that this is only time for the resolution to step up and a 4K screen on the Pro 5 would be one of the biggest changes on the tablet.

The new Surface Pro will boast either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 635 processor or Intel Kaby Lake chipset. If the Snapdragon processor is used, this will address the battery life problems that have inundated the Surface Pro 3, and go along with the addition of LTE.

However the Intel has already unveiled its seventh generation chipset at the recently concluded CES 2017. Also, since Microsoft has always positioned the Surface Pro series as portable devices that have desktop power, the Kaby Lake processor will be the more logical choice to be equipped in the device.

Having the Intel chip will make the newest iteration of the Surface Pro considerably faster than any previous surface pro, and this will also offer users a longer battery life, as the power-efficient nature of the Kaby Lake processor will result in an improved battery life for the Surface Pro.

Aside from faster processor speeds and better battery life, you can also expect ports department to be upgraded, where the Surface Pro 4's USB 3.0 port will be replaced with USB Type-C ports and Thunderbolt 3 support.

The Surface Pro 5 gadget is also said to come in two variants: a 16GB model and a 32GB option. It is also rumored to have 512GB to 1TB of internal storage, respectively.
