Metallica is among the most popular rock bands across the globe. They've performed almost in all major nations, accumulating enough number of metal rock fans by its side. The band which was formed back in 1981, comprises of members including Hetfield, Ulrich and long time lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and Bassist Robert Trujillo, Guitarist Dave Mustaine and Bassists Ron Govney, Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted.

However, the band stopped producing albums and its been very long since they released any new exciting tracks. Fans are obviously disappointed regarding the same. As reported by Blabbermouth, last year's 'Hardwired to Self-Destruct' marked the band's first release since their 2011 collaboration with Lou Reed. It is also among their first albums that established itself as the first-time, new and original material since 2008's 'Death Magnetic.'

The band has been touring endlessly, even stopping at Antarctica. However, while speaking to The Straits Times, Hetfield said that perhaps making the fans wait for eight long years was a mistake. Moreover, he also re-assured the fans that it won't happen again and they would certainly not make the fans wait for another eight years before a follow-up effort sees the light.

He further went on to express his views on the remaining band members. They were even invited to play at this year's Grammy Awards. He said that the music comes in trends and what not, but that they haven't gone anywhere. If they are still popular enough to perform at the Grammy's awards, then that is more than enough for them. He also further added that he hasn't been able to understand how they managed to stay popular and that he didn't put too much thought into it.

He said that he doesn't want to figure it out. "What we have to offer is honesty and we love what we do. We're writing songs we want to heart and that's important," he said.
