‘La La Land’ Takes On BAFTA With Huge Success

The American musical romantic comedy-drama film "La La Land" was seen with its great success at the British Academy Film Awards which was held on Sunday, 12 February. The film received the best film award along with the best actress and best director awards to Emma Stone and Damien Chazelle respectively.

The BAFTA was graced by the Duchess and Dukes of Cambridge where the film "La La Land" won five awards of the II categories it was nominated for. The film also picked up the awards for the original music along with the best cinematography.  

"La La Land" had created its lead in the ongoing movie award season with Oscars, which will be held sometime later this month. Emma stone was awarded as the leading actress, who was starring opposite to Ryan Gosling, while the leading Actor award was won by Casey Affleck for "Manchester By The Sea", reported Telegraph.   

Amidst the award ceremony, there were indirect references which were made regarding the controversy of the new U.S president Donald Trump, who has plans of building a wall on the Mexican border. Trumps rule for restriction on migration was also a part of the reference.

While accepting the award Emma Stone gave a short speech by saying that she feels special as everyone could come together to celebrate the positive gift of creativity. She further added that it transcends borders making people feel less alone while in a time that is so divisive, as per Reuters.  

The success of the film "La La Land", a story of a jazz pianist and an aspiring actress, was seen ever since the Golden Globes were the film had received seven awards.

Justin Hurwitz, who was awarded for the music of the film, also said that he hopes the success of the film might strength the renaissance in the genre.
