Netflix revealed on Wednesday that the hugely popular prison drama-comedy series "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5 will be released on June 9, 2017. Aside from the air date, the Internet streaming giant released a 15-second teaser to whet the appetites of fans for their wildly popular original show. Through it, loyal viewers will get an idea of the collective atmosphere of the series when it returns.

Season 4's ending was a huge cliffhanger, showing the prisoners getting hit by Poussey's accidental suffocation by a white prison guard. The teaser The Hollywood Reporter shared, in fact, shows those left behind trying to cope with the tragedy. On top of that, it looked like Daya (Dascha Polanco) was going to spark a riot in the whole of Litchfield Penitentiary last season with a gun in her hand. "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5 will be picking up from that scene and will follow three days in the lives of the orange jumper-wearing inmates.

Yes, the whole of "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5 will span only three days. Online streaming service provider Netflix has avoided revealing timelines before, so as not to give fans any inkling as to when the inmates will finally go free. Still, a lot of things are going to happen in such a short period of time, as Laverne Cox told People.

And those who have seen the "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5 trailer would have looked closely at the faces of characters badly affected by Poussey's death. They would have also noticed that Laverne Cox was missing. But that is no cause for dismay. Her character, Sophia Burset, will still be present in the show's next run. She even told the entertainment publication that the highly-anticipated return of the award-winning series will be "juicy".
