The film adaptation of the Disney animated film "The Little Mermaid" is all set to take progress in terms of deciding its cast and the filming process. Lindsay Lohan, who was formerly known as the child star, has exhibited her interest to Disney in order to be cast as Ariel, the main character of "The Little Mermaid."

Similar to the Ariel in "The little Mermaid," Lohan is all ready to showcase her red colored hair portraying the character of Ariel in a live manner.  Lin-Manuel Miranda the American actor, play writer and rapper is also expected to have his part in the live action remake of "The little Mermaid."

Lohan had posted a side by side picture of the underwater princess and herself on Instagram and captioned it saying that she will sing again like Ariel in "The Little Mermaid."  Although she is aware of the live action treatment given to the animated characters by Disney, yet she has plans of her own regarding the film, New York Daily News reported.

The music for the original 1989 animated movie "The Little Mermaid" was composed by Alan Menken, who will be teamed up with Miranda along with Marc Platt. The three are expected to produce a reboot for a better outcome of the film, as per Mirror.

Previously the character of Ariel was set to be played by the 20-year-old Chloe Grace Moretz, who was of a more similar age to the underwater princess. Unfortunately, Moretz dropped out from doing the role of Ariel who intends to find love and leaves her home.

Lohan, who is also called as the Mean Girl star has some experience being a Disney princess. She played the role of Rapunzel in a "Real Housewives of Disney" while she hosted "Saturday Night Live" in 2012.
