'Shadowhunters' Season 2 Spoilers: Jace, Clary Romance Over; Simon Wins

Jace and Clary's romance is on pause following the recent events in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 8. Simon finally confessed his love to Clary, to which she responded with a kiss.

It seems Simon wins over Clary's affections if the kiss they shared in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 8 is any indication. The vampire finally confessed his feelings for his best friend. Clary, on the other hand, seemed to show that the feeling is mutual. It may have taken Simon more than a season to tell Clary he is in love with her. However, Clary had known all along about his feelings, according to Katherine McNamara. She revealed in a recent interview the Shadowhunter refused to acknowledge Simon's feelings for fear of losing their friendship.

However, Clary and Simon have been through so much. They have learned to lean heavily on each other. McNamara said that the events that happened eventually made Clary see Simon differently. This is why she kissed him in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 8.

"Everything that's been happening in this world has been changing their relationship to a point now where they see each other in a different way and it's perfect timing. Now that they've both changed and their relationship has changed, she's seeing him with fresh eyes," McNamara told Entertainment Weekly.

Prior to their kiss in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 8, there were hints that Clary also feels the same way for Simon. The thought of Simon being with Maia makes her a tad jealous. McNamara said the love story between Simon and Clary is part of a "natural progression" so it was bound to happen.

However, what happens now to Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and Clary? Sherwood told TV Line that their love story continues since Jace still has feelings for Clary. He hinted that the succeeding episodes after the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 10 delve into their romance.

Regardless, the arrival of Clary's real brother Sebastian in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 might prompt Jace to win her back. Plus, Clary and Jace have yet to kiss in the Seelie Court.
