Kitty will reportedly return to "Elementary" Season 5 to reunite Sherlock and Watson. Actress Ophelia Lovibond will reprise the role.

According to the Screener TV (via tvschedule zapit), on "Elementary" Season 5 Episode 15, Kitty will be back to New York to warn Sherlock about a killer who is eliminating everyone involved in a case they worked on together in London. This will lead Kitty, Sherlock and Watson to team up with the NYPD to catch the murderer. However, Watson soon discovers the mission might have something more to it than meets the eye and Kitty is harboring a secret related to a new man in her life.

"Elementary" executive producer Jason Tracey said Kitty is still as complicated as ever hinting that there might be more juicy storylines involving her in the future,  Entertainment Weekly reported. Kitty's departure in "Elementary" Season 3 left open with plenty of possibilities. Tracey said that the character is now ripe for a return after having done a lot of healing and growing up and opined that it will be interesting how she would fit in with the gang after being absent for a long time.

"Kitty is the only person who has ever become part of Sherlock and Joan's family. Bringing her back, we get to find out if she still fits and if there's room for their family to grow again," he said.

Kitty debuted in "Elementary" Season 3 Episode 1 as Sherlock's new apprentice. The character also became close to Watson who figured out her tragic past. In "Elementary" Season 3 Episode 12, Kitty finally got her revenge against the man who sexually and psychologically abused her. She went on the run with blood in her hands and presumably left the team to settle back in London.

"Elementary" Season 5 airs on Sunday, March 5 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
