One of the saving graces of Oscars 2017 (despite the unfortunate mix-up in the end), was John Legend performing "La La Land" Medley Live onstage. His performance received such rave reviews that he decided to release his medley of "City of Stars" and "Audition" the very next day.

Legend mesmerized the audience by delivering a spectacular medley at the 89th Academy Awards. He sang as well as played the piano on stage, as dancers twirled to his crooning voice. The background score on the version of "City of Stars" and "Audition" released on Apple Music, however, is played by Justin Hurwitz.

Hurwitz, along with Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the lyricists behind the "La La Land" songs, took home the award for Original Song, for "City of Stars. In addition, Hurwitz also won in the category of Best Score, Billboard reports.

"La La Land" had a great night at the Oscars 2017, taking home awards for 6 different categories out of the 14 that it was nominated for, including Director and Lead Actress. Even though Legend was not nominated for his work this time, he has had the good fortune of taking home one the most coveted golden statues in 2015 for the Original Song "Glory", in the film "Selma".

Legend almost bagged an Oscar for being the executive producer of the film "La La Land", thanks to the gaffe pulled by presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. They mistakenly announced "La La Land" as the winner of the Best Picture category, only to realize moments later that "Moonlight" was the rightful winner. Chrissy Teigen, Legend's wife, even took to Twitter to joke about the incident in a short video where she is heard saying "I'm joined by Oscar winner John Legend... not this year," Billboard reports.

Nevertheless, the there were many high points of Oscars 2017 to overshadow the blunder in the end. John Legend's performance definitely ranks at the very top. Listen to the below:
