"Glee" alum Lea Michelle has landed a comedy tv gig after leaving "Scream Queens." Michelle is set to co-star opposite Brandon Micheal Hall in a comedy pilot from "Hamilton" standout Daveed Diggs. Diggs is also reportedly executive producing the project.

The comedy series in called "City Mayor." It follows an outspoken rapper named Courtney Rose to be played by Hall, who runs for office as a publicity stunt, wins and eventually realizes that she is actually good at it. Entertainment Weekly reported.

As for Michelle, details about her role has not been revealed but it is likely tailored to her musical talents. The role was conceived as Valentina Flores, who will serve as a Chief of staff in the mayor's office.

To make it possible, Michele was released by Ryan Murphy from her deal on the Fox/20th TV series "Scream Queens." However, the fate of the said show is currently in limbo. Given its less than modest ratings, critics say that a Season 3 renewal is unlikely.

That said, "Screen Queens" is designed in a way that every character can take a break from time to time. Therefore, it is still possible for the show to return continue without Michele's Hester.

Jeremy Bronson "The Mindy Project" is writing the script and will executive produce alongside Diggs, Jamie Tarses, Scott Stuber, and James Griffiths. Griffiths will direct the pilot, Deadline reported. The project hails from ABC Studios and Jamie Tarses, Scott Stuber & Dylan Clark's studio-based Bluegrass FanFare.

Lea Michelle is an American actress who is best known for her role as Rachel Berry on the Fox comedy-drama series "Glee" (2009-2015). Michele's performance received critical praise, earning her three consecutive People's Choice Awards, a SAG Award and a Satellite award.
