After the very successful first movie in 2016, DreamWorks will be back with "Trolls 2" in 2020. It was recently announced on Twitter that the musical, animated movie about multi-colored trolls starring Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick will be back for another adventure.

The official DreamWorks Trolls Twitter account announced yesterday that Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick will return for "Trolls 2" on April 10, 2020. Timberlake and Kendrick will reprise their roles as Branch and Poppy respectively. The first film received a lot of nominations and even won Best Song Written for Visual Media, Hollywood Song Award, and Best Song Written for an Animated Film. All these awards refer to "Can't Stop the Feeling!", which Timberlake himself co-wrote and performed.

There's no news whether he will still write and perform the "Trolls 2" soundtrack, but given the success of "Can't Stop the Feeling", it's highly possible. The first movie made $339.4 million and was performed during the Academy Awards ceremony. "Trolls" wasn't the first brand of kid's toys to be adapted into film, though. There's the highly successful "The Lego Movie" that spawned a spin-off, "The Lego Batman Movie".

In the first "Trolls" movie, Branch and Poppy had to save their village from a troll-eating monster. The problem was resolved at the end of the film, so the "Trolls 2" 2020 film will need a new set of antagonists and problems. There's still no news about the plot of the sequel, but Deadline reported that the original director Mike Mitchell will not return for the next film.

Mitchell will, apparently, be working on "The Lego Movie" sequel, which will be released on Feb. 8, 2019. So far, the only confirmed "Trolls 2" cast members are Timberlake and Kendrick. The first film was star-studded and involved the voices of Gwen Stefani, Zooey Deschanel, James Corden, and Russell Brand among others.

The first film was directed by Mitchell, who also did "Shrek: Forever After", and Walt Dohrn of "SpongeBob SquarePants". The script was written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, who also worked with the "Kung Fu Panda" films. It's not clear yet whether they will return for the "Trolls 2" production.
