"Princess Diaries 3" will have no trouble convincing the original casts to return to the franchise. Julie Andrews recently expressed her interest in being in the sequel and said that Anne Hathaway will be in it too.

Andrews briefly talked about "Princess Diaries 3" while promoting her new Netflix show "Julie's Greenroom." The 81-year old actress confirmed that there have been talks to make the sequel with the original casts. Andrews admitted that she would like to be part of the movie. "There's talk about it and [Hathaway]'s very keen to do it. I would very willingly and happily do it," Andrews told Buzzfeed.

Talks about "Princess Diaries 3" started after film director Gary Marshall expressed his interest in doing the sequel. He revealed in a previous interview that Disney is willing to do the film. Sadly, Marshall died last year before final agreements could be made.

Regardless, Andrews is optimistic that "Princess Diaries 3" will still happen without Marshall and possibly with a new director. She said that the original casts could do the sequel in honor of the deceased director. "I think we might do it in honor of him. Annie had an idea that she wanted to pursue about it, and I'm all for it, so if she'd like to," Andrews further told the publication.

Marshall initially dished about "Princess Diaries 3" in an interview with People. He said that Anne Hathaway is very much interested in returning. However, Marshall had to postpone talks about the sequel, since at that time Hathaway was pregnant with her first child. Nonetheless, he was very optimistic that the movie will happen.

In the same interview, Marshall also said that he wants the original casts back, including Andrews and Chris Pine. He talked about filming "Princess Diaries 3" in Manhattan. However, as it stands, Disney has yet to make official announcements about the sequel.
