AMD Vega Release Date, Specs, Price; Unlikely To Clash With NVIdia's New GPU Launch

AMD is hoping to hit this year with two ground-breaking product releases. The most anticipated is of course, AMD's Ryzen. But AMD fans are also excited about AMD's Vega GPU, or if called officially, the "AMD RX Vega".

As of this writing, there is no specific release date for the AMD RX Vega yet, but TechRadar reported that they can be out between April 1 and June 30. And with AMD's 500 series GPU refresh that is rumoured to happen next month, it is expected that AMD RX Vega might not be out, at the least, on April. The Radeon RX Vega line is expected to co me on AMD's Computex event.

AMD RX Vega is said to be a great performer and is at par against NVidia's GTX 1080 Ti. The GPU is also said to ditch GDDR5 memory for HBM2 or high-bandwith memory. HMM2 are more efficient but smaller in size compared to GDDR5.

For the price, there are different factors that can affect the final figures. It is expected that AMD RX Vega's price will be based on NVidia's latest GPU price. According to Polygon, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be released with $699 price tag attached. It is possible that the price of AMD RX Vega will be near that range.

Another price theory is that Vega will be based on the price of its predecessor. The current Radeon RX 480 starts at $169 while Radeon R9 Fury X starts at $389. If it really wants to compete with GTX 1080 Ti, basing the price with predecessors will surely get AMD the edge for a little while.

More reasons to be hyped by AMD RX Vega is its partnership with Bethesda. Bethesda is the house of games like "Doom" and "Dishonored 2". With this partnership, it is expected that games produced by Bethesda will work seamlessly on AMD RX Vega GPUs. AMD RX Vega is also expected to team up with LiquidSky to give seamless cloud-based streaming games service, This will make gaming anywhere possible anywhere.
