The latest trailer for "Mass Effect: Andromeda" gave fans of the game a giant Easter egg. Although BioWare themselves did not say anything about it, sharp-eared viewers of the "Golden Worlds" teaser heard a muffled reference to Quarians.

Those with great hearing would have caught the tantalizing hint at about 2:10 in the "Mass Effect: Andromeda" trailer. In full, the voice mentioning it said: "For our Turian and Quarian colonists, Habitat Five appears to be a perfect home for dextro-protein life." That was all it was in the almost 4-minute "Golden Worlds" video. But PC Gamer noted that it is a clue that the alien race will appear in the upcoming game.

BioWare, creator of "Mass Effect: Andromeda", have not stated outright that the Quarians will not appear in the game. However, creative director Marc Walters dropped a hint about their involvement in a December 2016 interview with Game Informer. He said that Nexus would be a multi-species operation so there is a chance the technologically-advanced species would be involved.

Furthermore, producer Fabrice Condominas did not completely exclude Quarians in "Mass Effect: Andromeda". He warned players to be mindful of their choices and be watchful if they wanted to get a glimpse of the alien race.

Aside from the Quarian Easter egg, there is another tip-off in the "Mass Effect: Andromeda" trailer. There was an oblique mention of Reapers although they themselves will not star in the upcoming game. But this bridges the gap between the latest "Mass Effect" installment and its predecessors.

In "Mass Effect 3," the Quarians managed to repossess their homeworld, Rannoch, from the Geth. Meanwhile, "Andromeda" will follow the events that occurred before the final installment in the game's original trilogy. This means that the Quarians will still be nomads confined to their Migrant Fleet.
