As the upcoming release of Microsoft Surface Pro 5 comes near, a latest rumor emerged. Contrary as to what has been previously speculated, it appears that the Surface Pro 5 might integrate an AMD processor instead of Intel's latest Kaby Lake chips.

The said speculation surfaced when the trailer for "Alien: Covenant" was released and appears to show an alleged Surface Pro 5 device. It can be noted that the film is currently sponsored by Intel's rival with a description that reads "Intelligence powered by AMD, Ryzen and Radeon".

Speaking of Surface Pro 5, no official date as yet announced by Microsoft for its release. However, it can be remembered that the Surface Pro 4 was launched in October 2015. Many expected that the Surface Pro 5 will finally be seen on October 2016, however, the new Surface Book i7 and Surface Studio were the only ones present at the October Windows event, according to PCAdvisor UK.

Microsoft gave an obvious clue that implies that the Surface Pro 5 is on its way. The said clue was a price cut to Surface Pro 4 that retailed from $805 to $649. Aside from the Surface Pro 4, a number of expensive models have received price cuts too which ended on 31st of January.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Microsoft has decided to pursue a manufacturing contract with Pegatron for producing the Surface Pro 5. Pegatron was also tasked to manufacture the Microsoft Surface Studio which was a success and was able to gained great reviews. With these, the Surface Pro 5 is speculated to feature a 4K display, a stylus with wireless charging and a launching date in Q1 2017.

Furthermore, if Microsoft decided not to pursue its integration with the Intel Kaby Lake chip, then it will probably sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 635. Its pursuit would mean that the Surface Pro 5 will have longer battery life and probably be LTE for mobile connectivity, as reported by Trusted Reviews.

However, Surface Pro 5 always want to have desktop power despite being a portable device. Thus, it is more plausible that the device will have a seventh-generation Intel Core chip. Anyways, Microsoft has yet to comment on those rumors
