Android 7.1.2 Nougat is set to be unveiled in public on April 3. Selected Nexus devices and Pixel brand smartphones get the first upgrade to Android 7.1.2 Nougat after the beta version.

Google's mobile operating system upgrade was first launched last August and had its first update when Google released their Pixel brand smartphones in October, however, it was the beta version of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat. According to Google, the update focuses more on bug fixes and performance improvements along with carrier-bound enhancements.

After six weeks of releasing the initial beta version of Android 7.1.2 and was distributed to selected Nexus devices and Pixel brand smartphones, users on 7.1.2 beta haven't heard much news.  It might be because of Dave Burke, Android VP, stated on his blog post in January that the company has been preparing the public release of Android 7.1.2 which would take "a couple of months."

Clues on the official release of the update started to emerge when Google suggested that a wider release would finalize at the end of March.  Another clue was when the Canadian smartphone carrier Rogers had announced an update for its Pixel units which brings an update enabling voice over LTE (VoLTE) and the latest security updates.

This doesn't seem sound much like of a hint, but Rogers has been testing VoLTE on the Pixel brands using the beta version of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Meanwhile, the VoLTE allows users to make phone calls using the internet connection and not relying on phone signal, Express UK shared.

Although neither of the blog posts by Burke nor the Canadian company Rogers implies that the update would be officially released in the first week of April, it seems like it's not just Nexus devices and Pixel brand smartphones could enjoy the major upgrade within the next few days. The company, however, is expected to roll out the update by the end of March towards the beginning of April where security bulletins, OTA images, and factory images are released.
