While Apple is still silent about the issue, many believe that the iMac 2017 release date and specs announcement could be just around the corner. In addition, speculations abound that the new model will feature top of the line specs such as brand new processors and VR-ready capability.

Industry watchers were originally hopeful for the iMac 2017 release date to happen this spring. When the Apple store went offline for maintenance last March 21, 2017, fans excitedly waited, anticipating that the iMac could be one of the new products to be offered once the site becomes online.

But it looks like fans will have to wait another day for an iMac 2017 release date announcement. When the Apple Store went online, it is now stocked with new products such as new versions of iPhones and iPads but, unfortunately, the new iMac 2017 is not among the new arrivals.

Fortunately, Apple's next big event is not that far away. In a recent announcement, the 2017 WWDC will be arriving this June 5 - 9, 2017. It is highly likely that Apple will not let the opportunity pass and will use the prestigious event to all make the iMac 2017 release date, specs and price announcement.

But the actual availability of the product could come months after it will be announced. According to PC Advisor, the actual iMac 2017 release date could arrive by September this year, a few months after the 2017 WWDC. This should give Apple enough time to integrate top of the line components into the new model.

During the CES last January, Intel unleashed its newest processors, the Kaby Lake. It is highly likely that the upcoming iMac 2017 will feature Intel's newest offering to give it more computing power and an edge over the competition.

However, it is also a possibility that the upcoming iMac 2017 will ditch Intel and go for its rival. Speculations say that Apple could be using the new processors of its rival, the AMD Ryzen chips, which is touted to be more power efficient, according to MacWorld.

Another exciting speculation about the iMac 2017 specs is that the 21-inch model could sport a 4K resolution as standard. A 4K resolution is only available in the high-end variant of the current gen iMac that making it the norm would be a vast improvement. The 27-inch model is still expected to have a 5K display but many are hopeful that VR capability could be a new feature, given the rise of VR technology.

Of course, all are speculations for now. Be sure to stay tuned to MStarsNews for the latest update on iMac 2017 release date, specs and features.
