When the trailer for the "Power Rangers" movie reboot was released, audiences were treated to a loved-up scene between two superheroes: Jason and Kimberly. However, on the big screen, the two Rangers' clandestine kiss was nowhere to be seen.

In the "Power Rangers" movie reboot trailer, the kiss that Jason (Dacre Montgomery) and Kimberly (Naomi Scott) secretly shared in the Red Ranger's room can be seen at around 1:29. Entertainment Weekly explained that Pink Ranger visited her red counterpart in the middle of the night to explain how she ended up in detention time. Unfortunately, this little moment between the pair did not make it to the film's final cut and Dean Israelite clarifies why.

According to the "Power Rangers" movie reboot director, they screened the initial version of the feature to a test audience. The director said that the audience was so unanimous in its dislike of the smooching snippet between Jason and Kimberly. That is why the production team had to excise that part from the final feature.

As to why the "Power Rangers" movie reboot test audience were so against Jason and Kimberly locking lips, they thought that part was a distraction. Pink Ranger was in the Red Ranger's room to explain why she got into trouble. Furthermore, it was an important moment as it showed that Kimberly was transforming from a mean girl to a Power Ranger, Cinema Blend shared.

At the end, Israelite himself agreed to the test audience's opinion. Had that moment been included in the movie, then that would have been about Pink Ranger being a supporting female to Red Ranger. Additionally, if that Jason and Kimberly scene happened, it would have followed the regular female-supports-male trope. So it is a good thing that Jason and Kimberly smooch was excluded from the final "Power Rangers" movie reboot.
