When ABC ordered "Once Upon a Time" Season 6, it was later revealed that it would end the major story arc that had started from Season 1. The possible Season 7 will be a soft reboot of the show and will focus only on a few main characters. As the season draws to a close, the producers revealed that viewers will see more of Snow and Charming's romantic backstory.

The sleeping curse is coming to an end in "Once Upon a Time" Season 6. This will give way to the Season 7 soft reboot. The show's co-creator Adam Horowitz told TV Line that the April episode "Awake" will focus entirely on Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming's (Josh Dallas) past and how they got together. "We think it is, as befitting the couple that started the show, an incredibly romantic story showing just how powerful their love is," Horowitz said.

It sounds like "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 is winding down and coming full circle. The show's producers previously revealed that the current season will end the show's major arc, regardless of whether it will be renewed for another run. There will be some closure for most of the characters in this season, which means that viewers might finally see the sleeping curse lifted on Snow and Charming.

According to Deadline, the show's creators met with Channing Dungey, the ABC Entertainment president, about the direction of "Once Upon a Time" Season 6. "There will be a little bit of closure in this particular narrative regardless of what happens with Season 7," Dungey said. "Once Upon a Time" has a very large cast, but most of them will not be around for the possible next season.

Jennifer Morrison, who plays Emma Swann on screen, said that she is willing to do another run after "Once Upon a Time" Season 6. Although the main story arc will be resolved at the end of the current season, with the last two-part episode titled "The Final Battle", Season 7 will reportedly focus on Emma, Hook, Regina, and Mr. Gold. The show currently airs every Sunday at 8 PM on ABC.
