YouTube Red is gearing up its program list and one its new shows will be "Jumper 2", the sequel to the 2008 sci-fi action film. The new TV series for YouTube's subscription service will follow the story of "Impulse", the third book in the "Jumper" series by Steven Gould.

Since its launch in 2014, YouTube Red has been filling its list of programs. According to Deadline, it has acquired the "Jumper 2" series, which will be produced and directed by Doug Liman, who handled "Bourne Identity" and "Edge of Tomorrow". The series, called "Impulse", will be based on Steven Gould's third novel in the "Jumper" series.

The story will revolve around a 16-year-old girl who discovers that she has teleportation powers. The "Jumper 2" spoilers reveal that the girl, Cent, is David and Millie's daughter. The "Jumper" 2008 movie explored David's (Hayden Christensen) story, which introduced viewers to the Jumpers and those hunting them down.

The 2008 film earned $222.2 million against a budget of $85 million. However, it didn't get a lot of positive reviews, according to an Enstarz report. News of the "Jumper 2" series first surfaced when a Facebook page, "Last Friday Official", uploaded a poster for the sequel.

At first, fans thought it was a hoax, but Liman himself later revealed that "Jumper 2" will happen, but not as a film. It will be back on screen, but as a TV series on YouTube Red. The subscription service had ordered the hour-long pilot for the sci-fi drama last year. Justin Lieber ("Lost", "NCIS: New Orleans") wrote the pilot while "Suits" producers David Bartis and Gene Klein served as executive producers.

Production for the pilot started at the end of 2016, so the "Jumper 2" release date might be in the middle of this year. In the novel "Impulse", David and his family live in an upscale neighborhood in Canada. Cent, the main protagonist, is rebellious and doesn't like homeschooling. By accident, she triggers an avalanche and learns about her powers.
