'Quantico' Ends Ratings Slump, May Have Secured Renewal; Priyanka Chopra Said to be Staying On

“Quantico” fans may finally rejoice now that a season 3 is more possible than ever. It may be due to the last minute adjustments made by the showrunners to boost its ratings. Just before the show returned from a short hiatus last week, many were in the opinion that the show has no way of recovering from its declining ratings.

ABC has confirmed that the “Quantico” ratings jumped from 2.4 million to more than 3 million for the episode. The network however has made no confirmation that it has renewed the show for a third season. One thing that is clear though is that the sagging hope of fans for a renewal has been kept alive.

The two timeline storyline worked so well in the initial season of “Quantico”. In fact, it is among the things that hooked the viewers to the series in the first place. People were able to follow the story since the two timelines weren’t over the top or complicated. But, the same thing could not be said for Season 2.

Viewers found the plot for “Quantico” Season 2 to be too confusing according to an earlier report by MStars News. The new terrorists in the present day timeline made it almost impossible to tell whose side everybody was in. Too soon, viewers seemed to have given up following the plot. The declining ratings were the wakeup call the showrunners needed to change things up a bit.

“Quantico” took a month-long break and when it came back end of March, only the present day timeline was retained according to The Hollywood Reporter. And, with the cancellation talks hounding the series, more fans tuned in on its return, curious about the changes and hoping that these will be enough to secure a renewal.

All that remains to happen before “Quantico” fans can finally heave a sigh of relief is for the show’s lead star, Priyanka Chopra, to sign on for another year. This despite earlier hints that she is not sure to return because she wants to do other projects both in the US and Bollywood. Fans know that the series will not work without Agent Alex Parrish running the show.

The buzz is that fans may get official confirmation on the renewal of “Quantico” in May. Many suggest that the latest ratings resurgence should please ABC that an official announcement may already be moot. So far, only “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How to Get Away With Murder” had gotten the official renewal nod from the network.
