"Riverdale" has cast Molly Ringwald to play the role of Mary Andrews, Archie's mom. The actress' first scene in the series was revealed during WonderCon on Friday.

Mary Andrews is no longer missing in action (MIA) when "Riverdale" returns on The CW. She has come back to reunite with her son Archie. A quick tease at the mother-and-son reunion was revealed through a clip released during WonderCon.

The short scene from "Riverdale" opens with Archie calling out, "Mom?" Then Ringwald appears beside Fred (Luke Perry) with a smile on her face. She replies, "Hi, honey." However, instead of rushing forward to give his mom a hug, Archie only stares back in surprise.

It is clear from this short scene that Archie and his mother have a lot to talk about. They have a lot to catch up on when "Riverdale" returns on air. After all, it has been two years since she walked out on the family.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Mary left Archie (KJ Apa) and Fred to achieve her dream. Whatever this dream is remains unknown. Perhaps, this will be revealed in time what with Mary's return to town. She clearly has a lot of explaining to do to her family when "Riverdale" returns.

Details about Mary's appearance in "Riverdale" remain scarce. According to the publication, Archie's mom returns home during the family's time of need. She also reconnects with her high school friends Alice (Madchen Amick) and Hermione (Marisol Nichols).

However, Spoilers Daily revealed that Mary is in town after Fred decides to finalize their divorce. Archie learns about this and he hides his true feelings about the separation.

Ringwald has signed on to appear as in multiple episodes in "Riverdale." She debuts Mary Andrews in Episode 10, titled "The Lost Weekend." The episode airs on April 13.
