New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose is now considering opening his doors to join a winning team next season. NBA legend and fellow Chicago native Isiah Thomas says he might end up joining the San Antonio Spurs. He said this belief in an interview with Chris Webber for Players Only on Inside The NBA. Thomas added that this move by the former MVP makes sense more than anything.

Derrick Rose recently said that money will not be much of a factor in his free agency status off-season reports Hoops Hype. This may be true considering how much he has already made in the NBA. “I want to win,” Rose said. "I've got more than enough money saved. If I stopped playing basketball now, I'll be all right.” He added that he wants to be happy and at peace with himself wherever he finds himself to be.

Meanwhile, Isiah Thomas explained the reason why he thinks Derrick Rose will go to the San Antonio Spurs. He thinks it’s the best fit for Rose, considering the way he is playing this season. Also, if Rose wants a serious contender, the Spurs are one of the most serious contenders for a NBA championship two years running despite the retirement of Tim Duncan.

Even the age and injury issues of San Antonio Spurs regulars Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili become minor concerns when there are Kawhi Leonard, LaMarcus Aldridge and Danny Green providing excellent games. All things considered, this may be the team Derrick Rose could sign-up with in the last stretch of his basketball career.

The latest ESPN news on Derrick Rose, however, reveals that he will go into free agency coming off a surgery to repair a torn cartilage in his left knee. The former Chicago Bulls star will miss the Knicks’ remaining five games of the season. It was a surprising ending to his first season in New York but a familiar situation for Rose nevertheless.
