Two New Yorkers made their first Guinness World Record after a nonstop VR-viewing marathon that lasted for 50 hours. The pair did the VR binge-viewing over the weekend.

Alejandro "AJ" Fragoso, 26, and Alex Christison, 37, hit the 50-hour mark of VR binge-watching that paved their way to the Guinness World Record. The duo was holed u p in a West Village apartment on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. They were allowed 5-minute breaks per hour and finished the VR-viewing on Monday, 10:45 a.m.

Two witnesses were monitoring the pair to assure that they did not fall asleep. The witnesses used eye-monitoring software and cameras to check that Alejandro Fragoso and Alex Christison did not close their eyes for an extended period. So, the pair kept their energy up by drinking Red Bull, Starbucks coffee, BLTs, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, orange juice and smoothies. They also took brief showers and breaks outside to revive themselves.

"The hardest part was being somewhat isolated in the virtual environment the entire time," Christison told Variety. "The last shot I saw was of the baby's butt" he added. The pair did not have an immediate comment on their favorite content because everything appeared blurry after watching VR content for over two days without sleeping.

Alejandro Fragoso and Alex Christison's efforts are the first attempt to set a Guinness World Record for longest VR video content marathon. The event was sponsored by CyberLink which is promoting the VR-playback features of its PowerDVD 17 software.

During their VR viewing session, Alejandro Fragoso and Alex Christison watched back-to-back VR movies and 360-degree shorts such as "Rogue One: Recon - A Star Wars 360Experience," "Kong VR: Destination Skull Island" and the short film, "Invasion!" from Baobab Studios.

Alejandro Fragoso is not new to setting world records. In 2016, he set the record for the longest marathon watching television for 94 hours, according to Guinness World Record.
