"The Fate of the Furious" sequel may see Elena alive, said Elsa Pataky, who hinted at her return in the franchise. Likewise, Charlize Theron is open to the possibility that she would reprise Cipher in the sequel.

Pataky hinted that Elena might still be alive, despite her emotional exit in the movie. The actress opened up about her character's storyline and whether she really died in the film. The film led viewers to believe that Elena is dead after Cipher ordered her execution in front of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel).

However, Pataky pointed out that viewers did not see Elena die, so there is a possibility that she could return in "The Fate of the Furious" sequel." "In this franchise, there are characters you think are dead, and they come back. We'll see," Pataky told The Hollywood Reporter.

It remains unclear whether Elena is dead or possibly just severely injured. Pataky is hopeful that she returns in "The Fate of the Furious" sequel. Regardless, she acknowledged the fact that stories have their beginning and an end and thought Elena's end was fitting for her story.

Pataky admitted that she found Elena's end in "The Fate of the Furious" dramatic and sad. It was the emotional exit needed for Elena to leave Dom so he can be with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). Despite her tragic end, Pataky thought it was a beautiful way to end her character's story.

Elsewhere, Theron expressed her interest in reprising Cipher in "The Fate of the Furious" sequel during an interview with E! News. There is a possibility that the villain returns given how the movie ended. Theron's character is still alive. She escaped the plane that took up much of her screen time in the movie.

However, Theron remained coy when asked about Cipher's fate in "The Fate of the Furious" sequel. She insisted she does not know whether she returns to the franchise. Instead, she expressed her gratitude to be a part of the film even for minor appearances only.
