Mark Hamill may have revealed that Luke Skywalker is Rey's father in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." An old interview with the actor surfaced where he talked about playing the role of a father.

A 1980s interview with Hamill may contain plot spoilers for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." The said interview happened after the release of "Star Wars: Episode VI-Return of the Jedi," where the actor talked to Gene Siskel bout his character's future.

Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," talked about George Lucas' plans for his character. He revealed that the director had mentioned that he will play a different role, possibly that of a father. "George has talked to me very marginally about doing something at the turn of the century in the last trilogy, but it wouldn't be on the same plane of existence," Hamill said as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.

Siskel suggested that Luke Skywalker will be a father in the succeeding "Star Wars" films, possibly in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." "What it sounds like is he offered you a job to play a father [with] a Luke Jr. around the year 2000," Siskel said, to which the actor seemed to confirm. Hamill simply replied, "You're a clever man Mr. Siskel."

Hamill's interview seems to confirm the ongoing speculation that "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will reveal Luke Skywalker as Rey's (Daisy Ridley) father. Fans came up with this theory after Rey activated Luke's lightsaber in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." According to The Sunday Morning Herald, this would explain why Rey is Force sensitive.

Likewise, it would explain why Rey is in Jakku since Luke Skywalker left her there after Kylo Ren killed the new Jedis. If Luke Skywalker is indeed Rey's father then it would explain why he trains her in the ways of the Force in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
