Taylor Swift Reportedly Skipped Met Gala Because of Katy Perry; Find Out Reason Behind Feud

From co-chairing last year’s Met Gala, Taylor Swift was a no-show this year to the disappointment of her many fans. She is reportedly holed up in Nashville making new music. But, many speculate that Katy Perry, this year’s co-chair, has a lot to do with Tay-Tay’s absence more than anything else.

In the 2016 Met Gala, Taylor Swift rocked a short, silver and sparkly dress with a tiered skirt in keeping with the night’s theme, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Many have been eagerly anticipating how Taylor Swift could top her 2016 look in this year’s Met Gala. Unfortunately, the singer was a no-show.

A recent Entertainment Tonight report placed Taylor Swift as working on her new album that is expected to drop by the end of the year. That didn’t stop many from speculating that Katy Perry and their long standing feud as the reason for ditching the event.

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry’s former friendship took a turn when three dancers from Taylor’s 2012 world tour switched to Katy’s 2013 “California Dreams” world tour. The “Bad Blood” singer herself confirmed the feud rumors in a 2014 Rolling Stones interview. In it, she revealed that she had a conflict with a well-known artist, describing herself and the unnamed individual as “straight-up enemies.”

Taylor Swift has previously announced that she was taking an extended hiatus after her “1989” World Tour. It cannot be denied that the “Blank Space” singer was everywhere last year. She jumped from her relationship with Calvin Harris to Tom Hiddleston with whom she eventually broke up with. Incidentally, it was at the 2016 Met Gala that Hiddleswift was born according to Vanity Fair. Then, there was also Kim Kardashian’s controversial revelation of Taylor in Snapchat.

Taylor Swift has so far came out of hiding since January to perform and promote her new song “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” with Zayn Malik. Otherwise, she has been virtually disappeared from the public view, although some fans claim that she has been seen driving around in Nashville.
