The casts revealed how the death of Poussey brings the women's penitentiary in total chaos in "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5. They also expressed their sadness knowing that Sam Wiley will not reprise her character in the installment.

The casts talked about the importance of Poussey's death during a panel held on Friday at the Television Academy's Saban Media Center in North Hollywood. They revealed how her fate affects the story for "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Laverne Cox revealed that in "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5, the Litchfield officers will have their hands full with the inmates rebelling and revolting. "An uprising happens and there's a resistance happening in Litchfield," Cox, who plays Sophia, said.

This scenario played out in the trailer Netflix released for the "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5 premiere. The preview shows Daya point a gun at one of the officers, while her fellow angry inmates yell at her to shoot him. The premiere opens with that scene with the women standing up against the prison guards.

Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper, said "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5 takes place in a span of three days. This way it captures the aftermath of Poussey's death. In this short span of time, viewers will see how Poussey's death ignites the inmates' anger and need to revolt. "You see people existing under compressed circumstances and what emerges when you're pushed to your limit. The more heightened the circumstances, the more interesting pieces of character come out," Schilling said as quoted by Elle.

Of course, the death of Poussey means casts have to bid goodbye to Sam Wiley in "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5. Uzo Aduba, who plays Crazy Eyes, said it was "tough" to work without Wiley around. She also admitted that she felt sad and upset over Poussey's death.
