Chloe and Lucifer's romance does not end in "Lucifer" Season 2, according to lead star Tom Ellis. The actor hinted that Season 3 will continue to explore their relationship.

Ellis recently dished some "Lucifer" Season 2 spoilers in a recent interview, where he talked about Lucifer and Chloe's love story. The actor hinted at the direction of the characters' relationship going into the second season. Ellis teased that fans who are hoping to see Lucifer and Chloe end up together are in for a disappointment since this does not happen in the finale.

Ellis said that "Lucifer" Season 2 will not end with his character (Lucifer) and Chloe in a romantic relationship. Instead, their story continues in Season 3. Ellis said that Lucifer and Chloe's love story is the "heartbeat of the show," so it makes sense to prolong their relationship into Season 3.

"If we were to get our two characters together in [Lucifer] Season 2, then I don't know if we'd have much of a show anymore to be honest. I think when you're thinking about the longevity of a TV show, you've got to nurture those relationships," Ellis told The Huffington Post.

The actor said the same thing about the relation between the show's longevity to Chloe and Lucifer's romance in a previous interview. He told Collider that these characters and their relationship are the backbones of the show.

Suffice to say, Ellis said that "Lucifer" Season 2 and Season 3 will continue to explore the challenges Lucifer and Chloe face in their relationship. The actor also acknowledged that fans want the partners in crime to finally end up together. However, he said that they would just have to wait to see this happen since the show will continue to "find valid reasons as to why they can't yet."
