'Royals' Singer Lorde Speaks About Her Absence In The Limelight For 2 Years, New Album Coming

Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor popularly known by her stage name Lorde is back with her new songs. The singer talked about her absence in the limelight, learn what she has to say.

Lorde catapulted to fame for her song, "Royals." The singer admitted that she was surprised with the sudden fame but opted to walk away because she wanted to deliver something new to her audience.

"For me, it was kind of about processing what I want to say next and I knew it just couldn't be any old thing," Lorde told Rolling Stone. "It had to be really special and really singular and it couldn't sound the same as the old stuff and there was a lot of discovery that went on."

Yes, the singer wanted to give something new to her audience that's why she stepped out from the limelight after her huge success. She wanted to find her unique voice again and deliver a music that was different from her first breakthrough.

Lorde was only 16 when she dropped her album "Pure Heroine." It was a hit that the "Tennis Court" singer won big at the 2014 Grammys, E! News reported. Her fans can expect a fresh music from the artist on her upcoming album, "Melodrama."

"Green Light" is the first song Lorde wrote for her new album. She recorded the entire album for over an 18-month period with songwriter-musician Jack Antonoff.

The "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" singer was very pleased working with Jack Antonoff who also co-wrote her single and co-produced her album. According to Lorde, he is very understanding and supportive. More importantly, he is a great listener. Lorde believes that "Melodrama" is better than their former projects.

Lorde's "Melodrama" will drop on June 16. Her song, "Green Light" is her first single in nearly two years.
