There have been very few details revealed so far about "Avatar 2" aside from its release date and casts. The sequel is set for release in 2020 and recent reports confirmed the addition of actor Cliff Curtis to the casts.

Film director James Cameron and 20th Century Fox has finally decided on a release date for "Avatar 2," which is going to be on Dec. 18, 2020. The rest of the sequels follow, with Part 3 on Dec. 17, 2021, Part 4 on Dec. 20, 2024, and then "Avatar 5" on Dec. 19, 2025.

According to Variety, Cameron had initially set the release for "Avatar 2" in December 2018. The next three films were then scheduled for 2020, 2022 and 2023, respectively. However, Fox never agreed on these schedules until the studios and Cameron finally decided on the 2020 release.

A confirmation on the release for "Avatar 2" and its sequels is posted on the film's official Facebook page. "Great to be working with the best team in the business! Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels. The journey continues December 18, 2020, December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024, and December 19, 2025," read the post.

As for the casts of "Avatar 2," the original actors are expected to reprise their roles. These include Sam Worthington, who plays Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as the blue-colored alien Neytiri, Sigourney Weaver as Grace and Stephen Lang who plays Colonel Miles Quaritch.

Recently, "Fear The Walking Dead" star Cliff Curtis was added to the casts. According to Collider, he has signed on for a lead role in all four films including "Avatar 2." He plays a character named Tonowari, the leader of the Metkayina reef people.

According to the publication, his addition aligns with the new plot in the film. Cameron has since revealed that "Avatar 2" will feature a new group from Pandora. The film will introduce who live underwater. It seems the Metkaniya clan play an important role in the movie.
