"The Winds of Winter" is long overdue. However, the sixth "A Song of Ice and Fire" book is still in the works because George Martin is too busy with tons of projects aside from the book series.

"And yes, before someone asks, I AM STILL WORKING ON WINDS OF WINTER and will continue working on it until it's done," GRRM said per News Week. "I will confess, I do wish I could clone myself, or find a way to squeeze more hours into the day, or a way to go without sleep. But this is what it is, so I keep on juggling."

Fans have been looking forward to seeing "TWOW" in the bookshelves. Unfortunately, for almost six years since "A Dance with Dragons" was released, the "Winds of Winter" remains in the work.

According to Korea Portal, aside from working on the anticipated book and its hit TV series adaptation "Game of Thrones" the celebrity author is occupied with other projects. George RR Martin is also up for another HBO project which will cover the "GoT" prequels.

George RR Martin's plate is full. In fact, "The Winds of Winter" author reportedly hired five other writers to help finish the scripts of the spinoffs. In the past years, he was also occupied with book editing, conference and other public events.

In fact, he also launched the StageCoach Foundation that aims young and local filmmakers improve their craft. In fact, the "ASOIAF" author even worked with some of his friends in Hollywood to hone the skills and potentials of the fresh talent who share his passion in filmmaking. The non-profit foundation also aims to attract more productions from filmmakers, film editors and digital media creators and has the vision of making its facility accessible and affordable in Santa Fe.

GRRM already promised to release "The Winds of Winter" soon. "Not done yet, but I've made progress," he wrote on his blog. "But not as much as I hoped a year ago, when I thought to be done by now. I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year)."
