"The Winds of Winter" is the most anticipated book to date. Unfortunately, many fear its delay especially that George RR Martin is reportedly directing the spinoff of "Game of Thrones" which may hinder him from working the sixth book of "A Song of Ice and Fire."

GRRM is rumored to have his directorial debut in the five "Game of Thrones" spinoff per Blasting News. It is still unconfirmed if George RR Martin is really taking the director's chair, but the celebrity author already confirmed that he will be working on the "GoT" prequels.

GRRM already confirmed that the spinoff will all be prequels. "The Winds of Winter" scribe explained that it will be new stories that are set in the "secondary universe" of Westeros and the world beyond the one he created in "A Song of Ice and Fire," The Guardian reported.

"The Winds of Winter" author wrote on his blog that he hired four writers to help him finish the scripts for the spinoffs. He added that he was working on another plot, which made his fans all the more excited.

"We had four scripts in development when I arrived in L.A. last week, but by the time I left we had five," George RR Martin said. "We have added a fifth writer to the original four," the "The Winds of Winter" author added.

However, many are concerned that the additional work on George RR Martin's plate would further delay the release of "The Winds of Winter." The book is long overdue. HBO's "Game of Thrones" which was inspired by the book was already gearing for its last season. However, the novel is still two books short.

What do you think, will the "Game of Thrones" spinoff affect George RR Martin's progress on "The Winds of Winter?" Drop a comment below.
