"The Winds of Winter" is long overdue. George RR Martin has been busy with other projects but the "A Song of Ice and Fire" author announced that he will no longer work on any anthologies until "TWOW" is done.

Fans of the "ASOIAF" series have blamed GRRM for the delay of "The Winds of Winter." The celebrity scribe has been occupied with editing and public conventions that he was not able to focus on "TWOW."

Looks like George RR Martin has finally confirmed that editing is time-consuming. In a post on his blog, the "Game of Thrones" creator announced that there will be no more anthologies until "The Winds of Winter" is finished.

"The anthologies, much as I loved them, were taking too much of my time, so I stepped back from them," GRRM Martin wrote on his blog. "Until I finish THE WINDS OF WINTER, at least. Once that's done, maybe I can sneak another one in."

GRRM is busy with editing and he admits that he loves doing this with Gardner Dozois. In fact, the pair wants to do more editing together but this will not happen until Martin has completed "The Winds of Winter."

"ASOIAF" fans have been longing to hear an update about the anticipated book. George RR Martin teases that "The Winds of Winter" might be out this year in response to an inquisitive fan in his post. However, he warned him as well that he thought of the same thing last year. Thus, this is not a confirmation that "TWOW" will be released this year.

At the time, there is still no definite release date for "The Winds of Winter." However, reports are rife that it might hit the bookshelves right after "Game of Thrones" Season 7, which will premiere this summer.

When do you think will George RR Martin finish "The Winds of Winter?" Are you still hopeful to see the sixth "ASOIAF" book this year? Are you happy that GRRM has finally decided to focus on "TWOW?" Drop a comment below.
