‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 7 Final Show; Creator Talks ‘Outrage’ Over Poussey’s Death

Series creator Jenki Kohan hinted that "Orange Is The New Black" Season 7 may be the final installment of the show. She also talked about the outrage the casts felt when she killed off Poussey in Season 4.

Kohan said that she might not go beyond the guaranteed seven seasons for her show. She pointed out that "Orange Is The New Black" Season 7 could be the final run of the series. "I haven't made a final decision yet, but I'm leaning toward ending it after seven - although the nature of the show is one that can go on and on because you can bring in new people," Kohan said as quoted by Bustle.

The showrunner did not reveal her plans for the final installment, although it is likely that the show ends with Piper leaving Litchfield. After all, the story revolves around her. The show opened with her entering the penitentiary so understandably, it should end with her leaving.

However, ahead of the show's end, fans can anticipate seeing new faces pop up. Kohan hinted that she plans to bring new characters to the series before "Orange Is The New Black" Season 7 ends. This is understandable, given the number of characters that have come and go as the show progresses.

One of these characters was Poussey (Samira Wiley), who died towards the end of Season 4. Her death not only had the greatest impact on the show (it triggered the inmates' riot), it also personally affected the casts. Kohan said that the "actors got very nervous and were outraged" over Poussey's death. "They're enmeshed with their characters as well, and you try to separate the actor from the part or the writer from the material, but it gets mushy sometimes," Kohan told The Hollywood Reporter.

Seeing characters die in the series is nothing new, but it remains unknown who gets killed off next. Will there be another major character death? It is unlikely though that Piper dies before "Orange Is The New Black" Season 7 ends since the show is about her time in Litchfield.
