While promoting their new single "In A World Like This" and the upcoming album of the same name in Europe, the Backstreet Boys stopped to do a Google+ Hangout with fans in the U.K.

The interview with all five boys took fan questions from Twitter, Google+ and the audience, in addition to the three hosts asking the group questions. As is apt to happen with fan interviews, things were kept light during the half hour video session, but that doesn't mean that fans don't get more information on BSB's upcoming eighth studio album.

When asked how their sound has changed or matured along with the band in their 20 year history and how fans will react, Kevin Richardson replied: "We just wanted to make music we like and that excites us. Hopefully, we'll bring the fans with us and gain some new fans along the way."

This, along with the more adult pop sound of "In A World Like This" and "Permanent Stain," seems to indicate that the group's first album in four years will have a very mature sound.

Richardson also spoke on the lyrical inspiration of "In A World Like This," which was written by the "sixth Backstreet Boy" and longtime collaborator Max Martin. "The song is basically about love and how love can conquer all. No matter what you're going through, if you've got that person beside you that loves you no matter what, unconditionally, you can do anything," he said.

Richardson took the lead during the entire interview, and addressed why he decided to return to BSB after leaving the band in 2006. "I felt inspired. I had the desire to create music again with these guys," he said. "We just celebrated 20 years; that's a landmark. I just had the desire to do it. The fire and the desire."

Backstreet Boys were in high spirits throughout the entire interview, and commented that as they have gotten older together, they've learned to appreciate one another more and communicate better.

Other fare in the interview included what superpower the boys would want, what they would bring back from 1993 and who their "man crush" is.
