Selena Gomez recently revealed that she would be focusing more on acting and taking a break from her music career after her 2013 "Stars Dance" tour. That said, the 21-year-old star said she wants more "bad ass" roles and establish herself as a serious actress. This is a very similar move to what she did with her music career with her song "Come and Get It." Gomez definitely wants the public to think of her as an adult.

"I have to do things that people don't expect me to do," Gomez said of her acting career. "I have to surprise people instead of being a part of the next teen comedy because I have done that. I want to dye my hair black and be a bad ass. I think it's fun, I think it's good for me."

Her character in Getaway could easily fall into that category. Or maybe her character in Spring Breakers? Would you like to see Gomez in more roles like that?

Gomez is even considering directing as a part of her career in film.

"Well, I have to be much better at what I do before I can direct other people," she said. "I would love that, and Ethan Hawke has given me some great advice about that, so I would, but it would have to be when I perfect a little more of the art that I do. Then maybe I would be a little more daring! But I am still learning."

Gomez later explained that her break from music is just another way of her balancing her separate careers the best ways she can.

"I think its good to have a balance of music and acting and apply myself to both, because I know that what I want to do to push myself, so its fun!" she said.
