Zayn Malik is currently engaged to Little Mix songstress Perrie Edwards, but the One Direction heartthrob used to date singer Rebeca Ferguson before finding his fiancé. Though many people might not know this, Ferguson apparently hasn't forgotten her romance with Malik. Her latest single, "I Hop," tells the story of a love gone wrong and the emotions felt after the other lover moves on to a new relationship. Sound familiar? This could all be a coincidence, but let's examine this song a bit more to make sure.

In "I Hope," Rebecca Ferguson sings: "I used to hate you so easily, look into your eyes so eagerly... 'Cause when there's money love is blind."

Well this just sounds like a doomed relationship from the start. And bringing money into the equation? Clearly this was a bad romance, but is Zayn the subject of this song?

He does have plenty of money, so one could argue that as soon as One Direction took off the relationship fell apart.

Luckily Ferguson doesn't seem to hold too much of a grudge and wishes the best for whomever she's singing about (Zayn, most likely).

"I hope life treats you good, I hope she treats you good," Ferguson sings.

Whether this song is about Zayn or not, he has clearly moved on with Perrie Edwards and the two are currently planning a wedding together!

Do you think Ferguson is singing about Zayn in this song? Take a listen right here:

"I''ve put my heart and soul into it," Ferguson said about her upcoming album. "If it''s passionate, vulnerable, soulful and raw that''s because everything I''ve gone through when making the record has driven the music and lyrics. I''m not someone who can just go into a studio at any time and just create.- I need drama and passion. If the first album was a collection of great songs, this new album is more of a coherent statement. I''m excited again!"
