There's been a big shake up for the promotion of Lady Gaga's upcoming third studio album Artpop. Plans for what single will be pushed to radio following "Applause" got switched today. The yet-to-be heard "Venus" is out of the picture. What's in? The newly unveiled R. Kelly-assisted track "Do What U Want."

The Mother Monster confirmed the news today (Oct. 22) via Twitter, though first she apologized for the sudden change of plans.

"Don't worry monsters! We are still scheduled to release #Venus this Monday with a snippet on Friday! AND it will STILL have its own video," she wrote. "However we are overwhelmed by the worldwide response + excitement for DO WHAT U WANT feat R KELLY & are happy to announce it as 2nd Single!"

Instead of being pushed as the second single, "Venus" will instead be another component of weekly Monday Artpop teases, eventually leading to the full album's release on Nov. 11.

Though Gaga is rolling with the promotion of "Do What U Want," industry insiders on Twitter are saying the decision was made by her label, Interscope, and not by the "Applause" singer herself.

"Checking to see if Gaga's next single has been changed for you guys, if it has you know it wasn't gaga's choice ;)," @insidethestudio wrote. "I'm sorry monsters but this whole era has been a complete mess. Interscope should back Gaga because Venus is f***ing amazing."

No word yet on when "Do What U Want" will be released to radio or when it will receive a music video. As mentioned, Little Monsters will still get to hear "Venus" in part on Friday and in full on Monday, Oct. 28.

"Do What U Want" was released yesterday (Oct. 21) as a sample track from Artpop, but the song quickly gained traction, rising on the iTunes single chart and gaining over 2 million views on YouTube.
