It's a familiar story by this point: Lorde's "Royals" has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the ninth week in a row, marking an astonishing debut from the 17-year-old genre-bending New Zealander. This week, though, Lorde was barely able to hold off Eminem's monstrous new single, fittingly titled "The Monster" and featuring his trustworthy collaborator Rihanna.

Lorde's "Royals" is a highly impressive feat but isn't unlike something seen in recent years. Last summer, Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" also topped the charts for nine weeks. However, that doesn't make her accomplishment less stunning. Lorde continues to be the queen of the radio and can notch No. 2 spots on Streaming Songs and Digital Sales.

Right behind "Royals" is Eminem's "The Monster," which trails Lorde by less than one percent in chart points, making the race for the No. 1 spot a tight one this week, as he makes headways on radio and streaming. "The Monster" also tops digital downloads.

Next week, it would be more surprising if Eminem does not finally surpass Lorde.

The top three songs of the week remain the same as last week, as Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" holds tight at No. 3.

OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" rises two more spots to No. 4 and the other rock showing on the top of the charts Imagine Dragons' "Demons" rose one spot to No. 6.

Meanwhile, Avicii's country/EDM hybrid "Wake Me Up!" comes in between them at No. 5.

Katy Perry's "Roar" fell two spots to No. 7; Pitbull and Ke$ha's "Timber" rose two more spots to No. 8; Drake falls to No. 9 with "Hold On, We're Going Home."

The top 10's lone debut rounds everything out with Passenger's "Let Her Go."

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga's "Applause" falls out of the top.
